Jack's 3rd birthday meant I'd have to go back on my vow to never make another cake. Jack's new obsession: Jeeps. This year, after searching and coming up without a jeep cake pan, I didn't have a choice but to carve one out of cake and figure out how to decorate it. I think I used 6 boxes of cake mix, and threw most of it away after I was done carving. This time, I had both of my parents and my grandfather in town, watching me do this, and wondering what on earth I was doing, and if I were maybe, perhaps, just a little bit nuts. Looking back, I really had no idea what I was doing, and even though the cake looked more like a truck than a Jeep, it passed the seal of approval from a room full of 2 and 3 year olds, and most importantly the "authority"on Jeeps at the time, my then 3 year old son, Jack. If I ever do this again, I would cover it in fondant and probably add the inside details as well :)
